Kennel training is a very important part of a dog\u2019s life. \u00a0Without proper kennel training, most dogs will develop separation anxiety. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What exactly is separation anxiety? \u00a0Scratching at the bathroom door to get to you, chewing things when you leave, nonstop barking after you leave the house, hurting itself to get to you are all signs of separation anxiety. Kenneling a dog so they cannot get to \u201cthe pack\u201d teaches them to become self-dependent. In other words, they don\u2019t have to be near you or leaning on you to function and survive. A dog <\/span>without<\/span><\/em> separation anxiety will follow you to the bathroom, but instead of scratching on the door will instead go lay down or chew his toy. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another reason to kennel train is to keep the dog used to a crate. When a dog gets injured and has to stay at the veterinarian, they kennel the dog. When a dog gets boarded or goes to a groomer, they kennel the dog. If your dog is not used to the kennel, these situations can become even more stressful to them. <\/span><\/p>\n
